An Oscar-winning black comedy thriller directed by Bong Joon-ho about a South Korean family from the lowest social class, trying to earn each piece of bread and survive. This film shows very well the essence of consumerism, how other social classes use others to live in luxury. It is very easy to identify with some characters, and notice how seemingly everyday behavior can hurt others. Without revealing many details, the paranoia and amazing twists are surprising. Halfway through the movie, you get the feeling that another movie has started. Something amazing, a real master piece.
Perseverance
We came innocently to Edinburgh in December / January. At the beginning, we stayed at Magda’s sister place, but as soon as possible, we managed to find a room in a wonderful apartment in Portobello. Each of us found a job with the back of our heads that the money we earned could be spent on an investment in the company we wanted to open. It will be a studio where the local community will be able to bring plastic waste to us, and we will save it before it ends up in the landfill. Then we will locally process it into everyday objects, for example wristwatches, flower pots or mug coats. However, it turned out in February that none of this will happen. We had to put the development of our idea aside. The place where Magda worked was closed and together with the household members we decided to move out and live separately. It took us a whole month to find a new flat and job. However, thanks to perseverance, we do what we can to remotely develop our company. We are not able to rent a place, so all the necessary tools and materials clutter our house. But we believe that soon everything will return to normal and we will be able to implement our plan.
